The devil is in the details
Carbon fibre is not easy to work with - but that didn't stop Ediejo from making some great accent pieces out of the material. First up was a custom faceplate to replace all of the drive bay covers on the case. This needed to allow for an Aqua Computer reservoir that would mount where some of the drive bays used to be, as well as a slot-loading DVD drive.
To create the hole, Ediejo gave his saw a break - at least to start with. A hole saw would be torn to bits on the hard-as-nails material, so that was out as well. So, he used a drill press to chew up most of the material around the cut, before using a scroll saw to get rid of the last remaining bits.
Some file work would clean up the rough edges, making a perfect circle for his reservoir. The final one would be grey - the red is just used as a test for fit.
Rather than leave the Corsair Dominator memory fans the way that they were out of the box, Ediejo decided to give them a bit of carbon fibre treatment as well. We think you'll agree - they look better this way.
